Frequently Asked Questions
About Homeopathy
What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is an individualized system of complementary healthcare that considers a person’s symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and overall well-being. Rather than using the same recommendation for everyone with a particular concern, homeopathic care is personalized to the individual.
At Suchet’s Homeopathy, we take time to understand your concerns and provide individualized homeopathic recommendations based on the information discussed during your consultation.
How Is Homeopathy Different From Conventional Medicine?
Conventional medicine commonly focuses on diagnosing and treating specific diseases, conditions, or symptoms. Homeopathy uses an individualized approach that considers the person’s overall symptom pattern, health history, lifestyle, and well-being.
Homeopathic care is complementary and is not intended to replace medical diagnosis, prescribed medication, emergency care, or treatment recommended by your physician.
Is Homeopathy Safe?
Homeopathic remedies are generally considered low risk when appropriately prepared and used as directed. Recommendations should still be made with consideration of your individual circumstances.
Children, pregnant individuals, people with chronic health conditions, and anyone taking prescription medication should continue appropriate medical care and discuss health concerns with their physician or qualified healthcare provider.
Can I use homeopathy alongside conventional medicine?
In many situations, people choose homeopathic care alongside conventional medical treatment.
You should continue taking prescribed medications and following the advice of your physician or other healthcare professionals. Do not stop or change prescribed medication based solely on a homeopathic consultation.
Do homeopathic remedies cause antibiotic resistance?
Homeopathic remedies are not antibiotics and do not contribute to antibiotic resistance in the way that inappropriate or excessive antibiotic use can.
However, homeopathy should not be used as a substitute for antibiotics when a qualified medical professional determines that antibiotic treatment is necessary.
Does Homeopathy Only Manage Symptoms, or Address the Root Cause?
Our approach considers more than an isolated symptom. During your consultation, we discuss your current concerns, symptom patterns, relevant health history, lifestyle, and overall wellness.
This information helps us provide individualized homeopathic recommendations appropriate to your circumstances.
Consultations & Appointments
Is homeopathic care covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP)?
The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) does not cover homeopathic consultations or treatments. However, some private or third-party insurance plans may cover homeopathic services.
If your insurance plan includes homeopathic care, we can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Suchet’s Homeopathy does not offer direct billing to insurance companies.
What happens during my first homeopathic consultation?
Your initial consultation is approximately 45 minutes.
During your appointment with Suchet Josen, you will have time to discuss:
Your current health concerns and symptoms
Relevant health and wellness history
Lifestyle and general well-being
Previous or ongoing concerns
Your personal wellness goals
Questions you may have about homeopathic care
Based on the information you provide, individualized homeopathic recommendations may be discussed where appropriate.

Do you provide homeopathic care for women's health concerns?
Yes. Women’s health is one of the primary areas of focus at Suchet’s Homeopathy.
We provide individualized homeopathic care for women seeking wellness support related to menstrual concerns, hormonal health, PCOS/PCOD, fertility and reproductive wellness, pregnancy and postpartum wellness, perimenopause, menopause, and other ongoing health concerns.
Appropriate medical evaluation should continue alongside complementary homeopathic care.
Do you offer homeopathic support for PCOS and PCOD?
Yes. PCOS and PCOD are among our areas of focus.
Because PCOS can affect each person differently, your consultation considers your individual symptoms, menstrual history, general health, lifestyle, and wellness goals before homeopathic recommendations are made.
Homeopathic care is complementary and does not replace appropriate medical assessment or treatment for PCOS.
Can homeopathy help with irregular or painful periods?
Women seek homeopathic care for a variety of menstrual concerns, including irregular periods, painful periods, heavy periods, PMS, and other menstrual or hormonal concerns.
Our approach is individualized because symptoms, underlying medical conditions, and overall health can vary significantly between individuals.
Persistent, severe, or unusual menstrual symptoms should also be evaluated by an appropriate medical professional.
Do you provide homeopathic support for fertility and reproductive wellness?
Fertility and reproductive wellness are areas in which we provide individualized complementary homeopathic support.
Because fertility concerns can have many potential causes, clients should continue appropriate medical assessment and fertility care. Homeopathic services are intended to complement, not replace, medical evaluation or fertility treatment.
Do you provide homeopathic care during pregnancy or postpartum?
Pregnancy and postpartum wellness are among our areas of interest.
Because pregnancy requires appropriate medical supervision, homeopathic care should be used only as a complementary wellness approach. Clients should continue regular prenatal or postpartum care with their physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare provider.
Do you provide support for perimenopause and menopause?
Yes. We provide individualized homeopathic consultations for women experiencing concerns during perimenopause and menopause.
Your consultation considers your individual symptoms, overall health, history, lifestyle, and wellness goals. Medical evaluation remains important, particularly for new, persistent, or significant symptoms.

Do you offer homeopathic care for children's eczema and skin concerns?
Yes. Eczema and recurring skin concerns in children are among our areas of focus.
During the consultation, we consider the child’s symptoms, history, sensitivities, overall health, and other relevant factors before providing individualized recommendations.
Children with persistent, severe, infected, or rapidly worsening skin conditions should also be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare professional.
Can children receive homeopathic support for frequent colds or tonsil concerns?
Parents sometimes seek complementary homeopathic care for children experiencing frequent colds, recurrent throat concerns, tonsil-related concerns, allergies, and sensitivities.
Each child’s situation is assessed individually. Homeopathic care should not delay medical assessment when a child has significant, persistent, or worsening symptoms.
Skin, Digestive & Chronic Health Concerns
Do you provide homeopathic care for eczema and psoriasis?
Yes. Eczema, psoriasis, allergies, sensitivities, and recurring skin concerns are among the areas we commonly discuss during homeopathic consultations.
Our approach is individualized rather than based only on the name of a skin condition. Symptoms, health history, lifestyle, sensitivities, and overall wellness are considered when making recommendations.
Do you provide homeopathic support for vitiligo or leucoderma?
Vitiligo, also known as leucoderma, is one of the skin concerns within our areas of focus.
Because changes in skin pigmentation can have different causes and require appropriate diagnosis, clients should continue care with their physician or dermatologist. Homeopathic care is provided as a complementary wellness approach.
Do you provide homeopathic care for digestive concerns?
Yes. We provide individualized consultations for people seeking complementary support for digestive concerns such as:
